Defence Maritime and Logistics Group

Prospect’s defence policy group

The Defence Maritime and Logistics Group represents 15,000 Prospect members employed in the Ministry of Defence and the private sector defence industry. It:

  • debates issues on defence industrial policy to establish a Prospect view
  • co-ordinates Prospect communications and lobbying related to defence industrial policy
  • produces research and submissions to government and other stakeholders.

The role of the private sector defence industry in the UK and its relationship with the Ministry of Defence was analysed in the Prospect commissioned report: Challenges in the generation and support of front line forces.

It provided background analysis to inform the union's contribution to the Defence, Equipment, Support and Technology green paper, announced in December 2010, and the work of the Defence Reform Unit, completed in the summer of 2011.
