Royal Botanic Gardens
The Royal Botanic Gardens (RBG) is a World Heritage Site and major London visitor tourist attraction, which is also a centre of scientific excellence. The business aim is to produce basic and applied information about plant-and fungal-related topics and to manage and communicate this to all interested parties..
Science and research in systematics, biological interactions, economic botany, conservation and horticulture is carried out. This is underpinned by extensive collections of living and preserved plants and fungi, associated artefacts, literature and archives, interpreted to the public through the Gardens at Kew Gardens and Wakehurst Place, West Sussex. These provide an opportunity for the public to learn about plants and the wider science work. Kew’s outreach and global impact depend on effective communications and publications. Education programmes, dissemination activities, national and international partnership networks are fundamental in ensuring the transfer of Kew’s specialist knowledge to the global community.
Prospect is one of the trade unions formally recognised by RBG and we represent a range of specialist and professional staff including Scientists, Researchers, Professional and Technical Advisors, Specialists, Information Officers, Communications Officers and Librarians. We represent members on all matters including pay, grading and terms and conditions as well as providing individual representation where necessary.
