Events - Southern Area RMG Summer Meeting 2023
The Southern Area Retired Members Group Summer Meeting will be held on Thursday 25th May 2023, starting at 11:00 am, in the Council Chamber of Lyme Regis' Guildhall (up the stairs, on the first floor).
This will be our first attempt at a hybrid meeting, combining the physical meeting with virtual attendance via Zoom. As such, it will be a learning process for all, so please bear with us if not everything goes exactly to plan.
Garry Graham, Prospect's RMG Secretary, is unable to join us in person, but has kindly agreed to stream an update on Prospect's activities relevant to the retired membership, via Zoom, and afterwards to take a short question-and-answer session.
As always, members' family and friends, and RMG members from other areas, will be very welcome to join us in the Guildhall. In addition, any members unable to travel to Lyme Regis will be welcome to join us remotely via Zoom; joining instructions are being circulated to members by email.
If visitors prefer not to sit through the meeting, they should be able to enjoy a pleasant morning in Lyme Regis.

Directions and Parking
The Guildhall (pictured above) is right at the bottom of the hill in Lyme Regis, next to the sea, as shown in the sketch map.
The postcode (for Satnav users) is DT7 3BS; but please see the note on parking, below.
Travel by car
Lyme Regis is on the A3052, and this route runs through the town centre and past the Guildhall.
There have been some unwelcome changes to the parking charges since our earlier visits.
The Long Stay car parks, at Charmouth Road (entering Lyme Regis from the East), and Holmbush (entering from the West), are run by Dorset Council, and no longer offer a flat all-day rate: the charges have gone up again, to

Dorset Council's preferred parking app, if you use one, seems to be JustPark.
The Woodmead car park, off Hill Road, is run by the town council, and also charges an increased rate, which is now either £1.10 or £1.20 an hour; the Lyme Regis website is not entirely clear.
The town centre car parks are all Short Stay, and quite expensive.

The time to walk downhill, from the Long Stay car parks to the town centre, is approximately 10 - 15 minutes; Woodmead is a little nearer.
Travel by Bus
Lyme Regis Guildhall is served by First's X51 (Dorchester to Axminster) and X53 (Weymouth to Axminster) bus routes.
The westbound stop is at The Square, in the centre of Lyme Regis, and within sight of the Guildhall; the eastbound stop is a little further away, at the Post Office.
